The practice of mummifying reaches its maximum diffusion even among the lower middle classes of Egyptian society during the 20th-21st dynasties (1200-950 BC), as is demonstrated by the mummy in question which belongs to a large group of mummies laid in plastered and painted sarcophaguses that were mass-produced, and which were found in the Necropolis of Deir el-Bahri in Thebes. This is a male mummy still wrapped in its linen shroud to which some ornaments are attached (the breast-plate has a net with beads of pale blue vitreous paste).
